The HR support a growing business needs.

What If HR provides outsourced HR support for small and growing UK businesses without an in-house HR function. We help business owners get the people side working properly, from the first employment contract to ongoing retained HR support.

You can come to us when you are hiring your first employee, reviewing contracts, building a staff handbook, putting proper HR policies in place, managing sickness absence, dealing with performance concerns, handling a disciplinary or grievance, setting up an HR system, or preparing your business for employment law changes.

The work is practical and proportionate. A 10-person business does not need corporate HR. It needs clear contracts, usable policies, simple processes, manager guidance and access to someone who knows what to do when a people issue lands.

Not sure which HR service you need?

Still not sure?

The right HR, not more HR.

Most small businesses do not need a corporate HR department. They need the right level of structure, clear documents and someone calm to call when things get difficult.

We keep HR practical, proportionate and commercially useful. We will not sell you a policy for the sake of it. We will not make your business feel more corporate than it needs to be. We will tell you what matters, what can wait and what needs action now.

Clear pricing, with room to tailor.

Some HR work is well defined, so it is priced as a fixed-fee service. Other work depends on your team size, documents, risk level and what has already happened, so we quote clearly after a short call. You will always know what is included before work starts. No call centre. No hidden retainer requirement. No paying for HR you do not need.

What proper HR costs, compared to the alternative.

vs a tribunal

One straightforward tribunal, even one you win, costs £4,500–£8,000 in legal fees. A 12-month Foundations retainer: £5,400.

vs hiring in-house

An in-house HR Manager costs £45,000–£70,000 a year. The Full Cover retainer: £10,740 a year, a named senior partner for less than 16% of the in-house cost.

vs a solicitor

Employment law solicitors charge £200–£400 an hour. The ER Crisis Support triage package: £750 fixed fee.

The employment law context in 2026.

The Employment Rights Act 2025 introduced day-one rights for several types of leave. From January 2027, the unfair dismissal qualifying period drops from two years to six months. None of this needs to be frightening. It does mean documented contracts and processes matter more than they did, and there is still time to get them in place without disruption. If your documents are old, missing or copied from somewhere else, now is a sensible time to review them.
