The employment law context in 2026.

Tribunal claims rose 54% in 2025. The Employment Rights Act 2025 introduced day-one statutory rights for sick pay, paternity and parental leave. And from January 2027, the unfair dismissal qualifying period drops from two years to six months. Businesses without documented HR processes have fewer than eight months to get them in place.
