1. About this policy

This Cookies and Tracking Policy explains how What If HR Ltd ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website www.whatifhr.co.uk.

It should be read together with our Privacy Notice, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

2. The short version

Our website does not use cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking, and it does not store anything on your device to follow you around the web. That is why you do not see a cookie banner when you visit.

The one thing the website keeps on your device is your answers to our HR compliance self-check, saved in your own browser so you can come back to them. They never leave your device, and the "Clear my answers" button removes them.

3. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet or mobile device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as pixels, local storage and device fingerprinting, can do the same job. In this policy we refer to all of these as "cookies".

4. How we measure visits

We use Plausible Analytics to understand how our website is used, for example how many people visited, which pages they read, which website referred them and which country they visited from.

Plausible does not use cookies and does not store anything on your device. It counts visits using a code that changes every day and cannot be used to identify you or to follow you across other websites. Plausible's servers are in the European Union.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or social-media tracking pixels on our website.

5. Links and embedded content from other services

Some pages link to, or show content from, other services:

our booking pages on Calendly and Google Calendar, and the Calendly booking calendar on our contact page, which only loads when you choose to show available times;
WhatsApp, email and phone links;
our social media profiles, including YouTube;
a Vimeo video, played in Vimeo's privacy mode, which does not set tracking cookies;
an OpenStreetMap map on our contact page;
our free tools and our online payment pages (Stripe).

When you follow a link to another service, or play embedded content, that service's own cookie and privacy policies apply. We recommend reading them if you want to know how they handle information.

6. Legal basis

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), a website needs your consent before it stores or accesses information on your device, unless that is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Our website does not store or access information on your device for analytics, advertising or tracking, so we do not need to ask for this consent. The self-check's saved answers are part of a tool you are using, which the law allows without asking first.

If we ever add optional cookies in future, we will ask for your consent before setting them and update this policy.

You can view, block and delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Instructions for popular browsers:
